Update from Team Headquarters - 1700HRS local time 25th June 2004The Mach 2 technicians spent most of today resolving the final issues of the engine replacement and modifications. Engine builder, Geoff Page has provided the team with an excellent replacement engine which has the bonus of extra power. The team moved to Pikes Peak International Raceway on Friday afternoon and completed some very satisfactory shakedown tests. They were joined at the test by the Japanese team running the Nissan in the Unlimited Class. The Mach 2 technicians then completed some final tasks on the car allowing them to retire ready for the early start on race day. The team is expected to arrive on the mountain at 4AM on Saturday ready to set up at it's base in the pits area. The confidence of the team and driver have been boosted by the PPIR test today and it the weather do not compromise the situation, we stand a good chance at taking the record. |
