WEATHER ON PIKES PEAK SET TO CHANGE THE GAME PLAN
The Arrow Mach 2 Racing team has spent today’s testing changing the configuration of its Ford RS200e to prepare for any weather scenario, due to the extreme weather conditions being faced on Pikes Peak at present.
With a temperature of only 35 degrees Fahrenheit at the start line and snow –covered road facing drivers towards the top, the British Arrow Mach 2 Racing (AM2R) team is preparing its Ford RS200e for any eventuality which the weather may throw at them. The car’s driver, ex-world rally champion Stig Blomqvist, decided to test a wet set of tyres on his second run to see how the deeper treaded pattern on the rubber would perform in the current conditions particularly where the tarmac sections end.
Alan Greenwood, AM2R team manager, commented: “Half of the bottom part of the Peak is covered in snow, and 18 inches of the white stuff is being reported from further up. We are preparing the RS for the worst conditions possible, just to see how it handles and make sure Stig is happy with the potential different configurations the car may to undergo. Whatever the weather, AM2R will be ready.”
For interviews with Stig Blomqvist or further information – including photos of the car in action on Pikes Peak – whilst at the event please contact Fabrizio Cont.
