Race Week - Practice - Day One

The team having settled into it's race week base at Brooks Racing Engines in Colorado Springs, started testing on the upper part of the mountain early in the morning on 25th June. Pre race testing on the mountain is only allowed between first light and 9AM and this means that all the teams have an early start.

This was the first time the team had been able to test on the upper part of the mountain and this allowed senior mechanic and engine technician, Geoff Page to map the engine to the altitudes encountered.

Stig completed three successful runs up the mountain with the team choosing caution initially and running at partial boost pressure. Stig was extremely pleased with the handling of the car. Times for the runs were already above expectations and with more boost being used on qualifying and race days, the team remain extremely confident.

Mach 2 Racing Team Manager, Alan Greenwood commented that the initial day of the week's runs went faultlessly and he was looking forward to the following day's run at higher boost.

Stig's main rival, Per Eklund in the Saab had his runs on the upper part of the mountain curtailed by ECU problems.
